Containment

Practiced movements
shape fragile boundaries,
giving measure to the infinite

From each crack
space returns to its source,
like the river
merging with the ocean abyss
where not even a drop
 is contained

Returning Home

Waking up before sunrise
to enjoy the morning ritual

one day later
and a thousand miles away
again, I greet the day

this time, with cold rain
and familiar trees
becoming lost in grey clouds

Moving slowly, but going far -

from one home to another.

Am I traveling back in time
or forward?

New Work in Shops

I'm happy to have work represented by two new shops.

In November I shipped several pieces to Pragmata Gallery in Tokyo, Japan. I was honored to have to opportunity to make my Japan debut in the wonderful space. It is a fantastic representation of simple beauty following the wabi aesthetic.

New Work Available for Sale - Nov 2013

I've added several new items to my shop from my personal collection. Many were fired early in 2013 and have been sitting on my shelf for inspiration. Now I'm happy to share their simple beauty with others. You can visit my site here.

Anagama Firing Sept 2013

I've finally gotten around to taking photographs from my last anagama firing in September. The firing itself went beautifully - ending right on schedule. At 72 hours we peered into the kiln, viewing the beautiful ember bed of glowing diamonds as we welcomed the sun rise. Feeling congratulated by the cool air of morning we went into town for a celebratory breakfast. It was a pleasure to fire with the new group of residents at Cub Creek, many of whom share the same passion for wood firing. It comes with both comfort and mystery to look over to a fellow potter after a long, moonlit shift and recognize the same ineffable feeling of accomplishment and exhaustion in their eyes. I'm pleased to have the opportunity to continue firing with this group throughout the rest of the year.
Here are photos from the firing. I will update the information once prices are set. For now, please inquire if interested in work.
